Bio
Junghwa Lee is a classically trained gayageum performer and instructor, holding a B.M. and M.M. from Hanyang University, Korea.
She was winner of both the Dong-A Traditional Korean Music Contest and the Korean National Traditional Music Competition. She is also a former member of the Gyeonggi Korean Music Orchestra.
She is a guest artist and lecturer at UCLA and presented lecture recitals at the University of San Diego and Cuesta College. She also served as a gayageum lecturer for the International Gugak Workshop hosted by the National Gugak Center in Seoul from 2018 to 2023.
Her solo album, Soaring, highlights her expressive and refined artistry on the gayageum.
Her work extends beyond traditional Korean music through cross-cultural collaborations.
