Bio

Vong Pak is a Korean diaspora musician, folklorist, teaching artist, producer, and theatre practitioner whose work is rooted in traditional Korean performing arts including pungmul, samulnori, masked dance, folk song, and pansori, while actively bringing these traditions into contemporary contexts. His music, featured on the album Blue and White: Electric Shaman Live, bridges Korean tradition with contemporary world music, and he has performed internationally in over twenty countries as well as at major venues such as Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Symphony Space. He has been featured on Good Day New York, PIX11 Morning News, an ESPN commercial, and the documentary Rhythm in Motions. As a producer and director, he has created culturally significant works including Korean Immigrant Dance in America, The Sulpuri Dance for Blessing and Peace, and the Blue & White Series, and he is currently directing the documentary <The Migrated Seeds>. His honors include a 2024 NYSCA Fellowship, a Brooklyn Arts Council Grant, and a Creative Rebuild New York (CRNY) Grant, and he holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Essex, U.K.
