Bio

Matthew Benuska instructs Pungmulnori for the Edmonds School District. He has been studying and playing Pungmulnori with Mansung Pungmul Dan and various groups since 2012. He holds an M.P.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington, and has background in Korean studies and language from Yonsei University. As Budget Analyst for the District, he launched their Pungmulnori Program in 2012, and began instructing in 2016. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director for Korean American Historical Society, and received the Foreign Minister's award in 2010.
